TC has been riding for over 40 years
Introducing me to horses in the mid-90s – I’ve been in love ever since
It all began on a Saturday car ride with the boys and stopping at a horse sale.
While he took the boys to the restroom I bid/won my first horse a 20+ swayed back gelding – no trailer, no fence, no stall, no lean-to, no tack – nothing.
We asked the seller to board our horse until we could get fence and a stall built. One week later – we brought him home. And it’s been love ever since. (He can tell the story so much better than me).
TCs heart is in barrel racing and trail riding (multiple time world qualifier for NBHA)
But has a love for the walking horse as well. He purchased our first walking horse as therapy for our boys.
He worked with our youngest son countless hours toward showing the TWH (resulting in him winning numerous awards)
TC taught all our boys to ride. It wasn't just a family thing - over the years we have free leased horses for others to use in 4H and barrel racing – he also provided riding lessons.
The friendships we’ve built through horses are lifelong!
We own Quarter horses and Walking horses
We’ve just purchased our first Stud (yearling) that we’ll be using in the future – being selective to get the top breeding in the performance industry within and outside of our broodmares onsite.
We’ve had 7 foals to date on our farm (breeding to outside studs) performance and walking horses and want to continue that.
Love of horses and all things equine led to our lifelong ambition to have an equine facility that could be available for public use and use of equine for off grid living so we could share this experience.
We’ve worked and lived locally all of our lives (Ross, Jackson, & Vinton Counties)
Traveling the US I’ve seen many equine facilities, but longed to provide and maintain the simple and peaceful versus extravagant and luxurious - that’s not our vision. Serenity Acres Homestead was named for the peaceful tranquility this Homestead provides throughout.
Add my love for shabby farmhouse chic – it seems to be the ideal match for our Bed n Breakfast/AirBNB dream
We’re approaching retirement
Always wanted off-grid living with dogs, horses (animals)
Now can share dream with others who appreciate the off grid / primitive living style
In 2025 we’ll open our AirBNB/Bed n Breakfast to the Public. The facility also offers the ideal spot for a Wedding and Event Venue as well. Our Homestead also has an indoor riding arena, boarding, and equine services all in the middle of southern Ohio’s Amish community.
Serenity Acres Homestead Owners/Proprietors
We envision our Hocking Hills AirBnB/Bed and Breakfast to be a cultural hub in Southern Ohio's Amish Country. Not only will be be offering horse boarding and related services, many events will be hosted on our farm throughout the year to bring together both local folks and tourists for country livin' fun, cultural and agritourism activities.
As an event venue rental, folks can book Serenity Acres Homestead for weddings, conferences, reunions, and social events of all types. Our Amish friends and neighbors can also be booked to provide authentic Amish Country cuisine for groups both large and small.
Come join us for a daytime event or the weekend...you sure will be glad you did!
